"I put back the same used prosthesis": victim of "fake" plastic surgeons

The Puerto Rican Jennilyn García is another foreign victim of the "false" plastic surgeons in Colombia. In the clinic of Juan Pablo Robles, currently investigated for falsifying a private document, three operations have been carried out, each one with worse results than the previous one

The torture of Jennilyn García Olivero with Juan Pablo Robles, a Colombian doctor who is currently under investigation for having an irregular plastic surgeon's degree, began in 2015. She, who lives in Puerto Rico and is now 26 years old, found out about the surgeries that I made Robles for a friend who had had breast augmentation with him.

Like other victims of bad plastic surgery who seek it from abroad, he contacted him through social networks and, since then, at Clínica Robles de Colombia three surgeries have been done between 2015 and 2017. Each one with worse results than the previous one

Jennilyn is one of the five people who traveled to Colombia in December 2017 to undergo surgery with Robles and who joins the public complaint against her. She, like other patients, did not know that by then the doctor was being investigated and had been prohibited from operating.

His testimony reveals the strategy he continues to use to continue the business: although he is the one who attends them, values and charges for the procedure, they only know that it will be a "colleague from Robles" who will operate them when they arrive in Colombia; even, the night before surgery. Patients are persuaded to undergo surgery with "all-inclusive promotions", in which in addition to surgery they pay for lodging, food and transportation in Bogota, as well as discounts for surgeries in the "Black Fridays".

How did you hear about the surgeries performed by Juan Pablo Robles?

I found out about Robles from a friend from Puerto Rico who had breast augmentation with him. And then at that time I had the offer of "Black Friday", which was all included except the flight ticket for US $ 2,500.

What year was it?

The first time he operated with me was on November 20, 2015. I arrived in Bogotá, a man from his clinic picked me up at the airport and then they took me to Clínica Robles. He gave me a breast augmentation, but he gave me a lot.

After a while, already in Puerto Rico, I contacted him because my breasts fell out, they hurt me and I feel very big, but he told me that I had to wait between six months and a year to see the final results.

And what happened?

After a while he told me that I had to do an inverted pexia, that was already in March 2017. In addition, I told him that I wanted to change the prosthesis, because I felt very large and I think that was what I had them fall .

Then Robles told me he was going to help me, that I only had to pay for my flight ticket because the rest was part of the guarantee of the surgery. He told me all that by message. But when I was in Colombia, after evaluating me, they sent me to the treasury and charged me $ 3,500 ... I had to borrow because, as he had told me that the guarantee covered him, I came home without money.

And how was that second surgery?

Mal, because Robles told me that I had to put on the same prosthesis because it was free of charge, and I was shocked because he told me that because of regulations between surgeons, prosthetics could not be used again.

My right breast started to swell, it got big and red. In Puerto Rico I wrote him again, and he told me to go to a doctor, which could be an encapsulation. Here they do not attend if it is about surgeries abroad, but I managed, after a lot, that a doctor made me a physical evaluation. And yes, he told me that he had an encapsulated breast.

Did you mention this to Robles?

Yes, he told me that he had to return to operate in Colombia and that he offered me a package of US $ 2,000 for changing my breasts, the pexy and a liposculpture. The trip was scheduled for December 2017, with the other five flight partners, and weeks before I learned that Robles has problems with justice. But since I had already had surgery on him ... I thought he had to take responsibility.

Did you say anything about it?

Yes. When I wrote to him about the investigation, he said yes, that it is not serious, that they are rumors. But it was not until I was in Colombia that I learned that another of the doctors at his clinic is going to operate on me.

It was the night before surgery when I found out that it was going to be Dr. Magda Jaimes who was going to operate on me.

And what was the result of that third surgery?

After six months, my right breast swelled up, opened up and pus came out. I spoke with Robles, who is the one I've had contact with all the time, and he told me it's normal. I would take an antibiotic in case it became an infection and you had to wait six months or a year to make a decision.

But no, I told him that I did not want to operate with him or anyone in his clinic. That he wanted me to return the money.

And how did the other five patients with whom he traveled to Colombia go?

They went through the same thing. But he cheated on me twice, because until now I learn that Dr. Jaimes, although she has no accusation, is one of the 40 doctors whose files the Ministry of Education sent to the Prosecutor's Office to clarify their titles.

What measures do you want to take against Robles?

I want him to pay, to give me back the money, because I need to fix my breasts, they're deformed. It can not be that there are surgeons doing damage, so I filed a complaint, despite not having the resources. I want him to pay and that the people who are just like me are brave and face him
